All activities, including camping, event briefings, vendors, and the main event, will take place at Myrtleford Showgrounds. The start and finish line for all tracks is located at Dederang Rec Reserve, a 25-minute drive away. On Friday, gather at Myrtleford Showgrounds for the briefing and set up camp if you're staying on-site. You'll then drive to Dederang Rec Reserve on Saturday and Sunday. An off-road route may be available for fully registered vehicles to travel to and from Dederang. We'll be exploring the Kiewa Valley tracks during this event. Entry to Myrtleford Showgrounds is via Conifer Street. Feel free to book accommodation off-site.
Recreational registered riders will be able to ride at least 2 tracks, Balanced and Skilled, with potentially more to come as we continue to develop the tracks. On the Skilled track you can ride directly from Dederang Rec Reserve, with a distance of 500m of highway on Running Creek Road that that you will need to walk your bike across. The Balanced Track unloading spot is Kiewa River K2 Streamside Reserve on Keegans lane, only 4km along one road from Dederang Rec Reserve. We are required to inform you that it is illegal to ride those sections on Rec Reg. Please get in touch with our team if you need any assistance - we are happy to help!
Arrive on Friday from 4pm, ensuring you're ready for our briefing at 8pm. At the gate, your tickets will be checked, and you'll receive a wristband for entry. If you're camping, we'll verify your arrangements. Spectators waiver forms will be checked at the gate, while riders need to check in at the registration tent to confirm all forms are completed. Due to previous issues with unlicensed riders, we will be checking licenses. The gate will lock at 9pm; if you arrive later, text us your full name and booking number for the code. After 10:45pm, the gate remains closed until 7am the next day. Vehicles may be randomly searched for alcohol, as this is not a BYO event per our liquor license. Our bar prices are as cheap as possible to make up for it!
Camping spots are not pre-assigned; it's first come, first served. We cannot reserve spots for friends. Due to the large number of attendees, if you don't arrive together, you may not be able to camp together, even if you try to save space. Day parking is available at the entrance to Myrtleford Showgrounds off Conifer Street. Multiple powered sites can be booked through us. You can stay in any vehicle or setup you prefer, but there is a caravan surcharge for unpowered camping. On-site toilets and showers are available, along with portable showers. Fires are only permitted if lit by the OpenRoads Rally crew in the main area. NO ALCOHOL TO BE BROUGHT ON SITE. Our alcohol is very resonably priced compared to other events.
On the day, you'll find multiple tracks to choose from, ranging from super easy to challenging. It's your decision which level to attempt, as there are enough options to suit your skill. We can't assess your skill level since it depends on factors like your bike type, physical fitness, experience, and how the tracks evolve after many riders. We test all tracks with volunteers and share that information to help you make an informed choice. Tracks can be more difficult in wet conditions, so we strongly recommend downgrading level in those conditions. Occasionally, tracks are closed earlier than anticipated due to weather conditions and injuries, so choose the track you most want to do first so you don't miss out. In saying that, NEVER stress that you can't make it up a hill because we have sweep riders coming through every 3 hours who are more than happy to assist you. You have support the whole way through, including recovery if you need it.
We are excited to introduce two new ticket options for this event: the Road Pass and the Flat Track Upgrade. The Road Pass enables you to explore a road route over the weekend using a roadbook and our app. The Flat Track Pass provides access to ride on the speedway at Myrtleford Showgrounds. You can add the Flat Track Upgrade to your existing ticket or purchase it separately if you only wish to ride on the speedway. Please note that knobby tires are not allowed on the speedway.
Fuel is available in both Myrtleford and Dederang. You can purchase food and coffee from vendors at this event. Supplies can be purchased in Myrtleford at Coles, the hardware store, or Alpine Motorcycles. Additionally, there is an AMX Superstore is located in Wodonga for any last minute bike parts or accessories.
You MUST have a ticket to ride and you MUST be licensed to ride. We will be checking licenses on entry. Your bike must be fit to ride and you must be wearing appropriate safety gear.
Touch-sensitive motorcycle gloves, a phone holder, and a phone or tablet (we recommend the Samsung Active 3, available second-hand and refurbished at a reasonable price with a RAM mount). Bring a spare phone battery charger for on-bike charging, as the app can drain the battery quickly. Include tools and a tube/tyre repair kit or spare tube. If you're camping, pack your gear and any necessary medication. A fuel bladder for extra fuel is recommended; check your bike's range beforehand. A Bluetooth handlebar remote is a nice addition, and we sell these on-site if needed.
